Under the Hole
Under the Hole, the gateway to the mesophotic zone. This photo was taken under an arch in natural light at a depth of 60 meters. Located on the Iris bank, north of the island of Mayotte, this magnificent arch is known to very few diver. Access is difficult, due to the distance from the coast but also due to the very strong sea current that is in this area. During this exploration, we were four divers, three of whom were in an open circuit and I in a closed circuit rebreather. To take this photo, I had to wait for my friends to move away from the arch to stay alone at a depth of 60 meters in this psychedelic-looking place lost in the middle of the ocean. Only a few seconds after their departure, a gray reef shark hovered in the blue directly above the arch.
